2007 was another good year for us. We:
- Completed an international comparative study for the Regional Government of Quebec City that led to further funding for the establishment of a geospatial cluster;
- Did a strategic positioning study for a multi-billion dollar US company;
- Continued to work with the Government of Thailand on a follow-on to successful work done on data policy completed in 2006;
- Continued to contribute to our industry - Bob Ryerson joined the Board of the Geomatics Industry Association of Canada. See www.giac.ca
- Helped develop a strategic plan for a postsecondary geospatial research facility;
- Helped develop a strategic approach to geospatial for a $80 million crown agency in Ontario;
- Added a management consulting practice to our offering - and then helped a client win a multimillion dollar contract;
- Continued our work on commercialization of university work in remote sensing for the wine industry and in risk for transportation;
- Completed a market assessment and strategic planning report for a technology-based firm involved in remote sensing;
- Presented workshops on data policy and change management to various national and international audiences;
- Presented a key-note paper at the Asian Conference on Remote Sensing in Kuala Lumpur on data policy, a talk on mass market geomatics to New Zealand Government officials in Wellington, New Zealand.
- Exhibited at the Fall Meeting of the ASPRS and introduced our new brochure.
In 2008 we are building on our past success. To date we have:
- Won an international competition to provide strategic and operational advice on spatial data policy and infrastructure for the Government of Bermuda;
- Carried out a future-looking market study for a major geomatics supplier;
- Completed an analysis of the commercial potential for a suite of projects in geospatial for a national research network;
- Won a contract to do a market assessment for a new venture in the environmental field;
- Have helped a client develop an approach to secure significant additional resources;
- Continued to support a major technology consulting firm in proposal preparation;
- We were interviewed by Position Magazine, where Bob Ryerson was called “one of the foremost thinkers in the industry.” See www.positionmag.com article.
- Gave a luncheon talk on the geo-economy at the Geodiffusion Conference in Montreal; a paper on commercialization of remote sensing research in the wine industry at the ASPRS Annual meeting in Portland, Oregon; a talk on the industry’s perspective on space policy at a meeting in Montreal on space policy and security; a presentation on industry’s view of IP when working with universities; and a presentation on the Geo-economy at GeoTech.
